the violin maker

Joseph Rashid is a violin maker. He’s been making violins his entire life and just finished his 95th at the age of 95. Some people say his violins are as good as Stradivari’s, except for one problem: Rashid has never sold any of his. He keeps them all. Violins change as they age, he says, and he likes to take them apart after some time and see how they have matured. If he sold them he would not be able to do that. “It is important to me not to connect money with the violins,” he says.
