I’ve started a bunch of blogs in the past, and never been very good at it. Part of the problem was software. I did blogs with no software at all, just editing HTML by hand, or using cobbled-together software either I or Eric wrote. The software was often hard to use to hard to add links to or the posts needed fixing after they were published, which kind of sucks the joy out of it. But more of the problem was that I just lost interest or ran out of things to say.
I’m going to try not to do that this time. I’ve spent a lot of time over the last few years not writing enough (other than work writing, which doesn’t count), and I want that to stop this year. One of my new year’s resolutions is to write something every day. The blog is part of how I want to do that.
As to what kind of blog this will be, I don’t know. I like reading blogs that are a mix of a lot of things, links with commentary and personal-journal type stuff. We’ll see how it turns out.Posted on 04 Jan 2004 • in blog-archive •
