“Lestat: The Musical” just opened up in San Francisco. Its in previews here before it goes to Broadway, what they used to call out-of-town tryouts (SF would be considered WAY out of town). This is another Elton John and Bernie Taupin three-hour extravaganza, based of course on the Anne Rice vampire novels. Musical numbers include “The Thirst,” “Make Me as You Are,” “The Crimson Kiss,” and “From the Dead.” I am so not making this up.
And its getting really, really terrible reviews.

Sounds like somebody didn’t understand that “The Producers” was actually a joke…
You know, I really kind of wanted it to not suck so much. It’s one of those dumb-ass ideas that could work anyway.
