Alton Brown is my personal savior. For those of you who are not aware of this particular religion, Alton Brown is the host of a cooking show on the Food Network called Good Eats{.broken_link}. You need to be watching this show. Really. Even if you don’t cook at all, you need to be watching this show. Its a nerdy cooking show, cooking by Mr Science, and its funny too. I love this show so much. My only problem with it is that they don’t make new ones fast enough. AB also hosts the American version of Iron Chef, which doesn’t quite have the kitschy appeal of the Japanese original but is still fun to watch. And he has a blog{.broken_link}.

A big part of the show is cooking gadgets, things that AB constructs to make cooking easier but also the little tools he has kicking around. There have been a number of times I have seen things on the show and thought OMG I NEED THAT. The most obvious case of this was the flip-top salt cellar, which is apparently actually a diner jam dispenser without the spoon. I couldn’t find this item in a store anywhere so I ordered it from the Alton Brown web site. Yes, I actually own an official Alton Brown Official Branded Product. Like I said: Personal Savior. Note, however I have so far felt no urge to buy the giant papier-mache chicken that says “Fry some more!” or the Magritte-like painting of the plucked chicken in the bowler hat, so I am not yet too far gone.

But anyhow, one of the cooler things Alton Brown has on the show is a KitchenAid Mixer. A KitchenAid Mixer is one of the coolest kitchen implements known to man in the first place (Eric bought me one a bunch of years back), but Alton’s is especially cool: it has pink flames painted on it. I just love this thing.

And apparently I’m not the only one: AB posted to his blog a picture of another hotrod KitchenAid{.broken_link} that someone brought to one of his book signings to show off. AB proclaims that he needs to make a web page for a hotrod KitchenAid showcase.

So need to get started on my KitchenAid art project.
